I am currently doing Literacy Intervention and all my students have adhd, add and dyslexia, I have one to one and two to one. (10 boys in total)
I was advised to start using read write Inc, but although this is a great course, trying to keep the children interested is quite a hard task.
I am now using Nessy, Nessy worksheets, phonic games, using real life events ie hobbies.
The children find it hard with putting work down on paper, I am introducing writing bit by bit.
So for me traditional teaching methods will not and have not worked with the children in my school.
I am lucky that the school I work in is a specialist school for boys and it is residential, we have a great team of people.
Getting to heart of some of their behaviour problems has been hard and long but I would say that 60% of the boys have learning difficulties. Some maybe because of dyslexia, some maybe because of missing their key education when they were younger.
